Hey my name is Brad Banks and I am the watcher, creator, and sole contributor to the site, nestbird1.com. I’m just a normal 40 something year old guy from Columbia, South Carolina. I just recently started becoming a bird enthusiast and to be honest I really don’t know how or why I started liking them. I do know that when I go on day hikes and camping trips I always make sure that I bring my binoculars along so that I can check out the different birds that are around.
I’ll be the first to say that even though I appreciate and admire birds, I’m not the most knowledgeable bird enthusiast. I’m still pretty “green” but that’s all right. I’m hoping that by creating this site, I’ll be able to learn as I go. If you have extensive experience with birds and come across something that isn’t correct please feel free to contact me and let me know. I promise not to get offended and I’ll make the necessary corrections.
As far as this site is concerned and what direction its going in, well, I’m not really sure. I think I’m just going to take the organic approach and see what happens. Maybe I’ll start off by posting something about a bird or group of birds and see if I can run with that for a while. Or maybe I’ll write about “yellow birds” and “blue birds” and compare the two. Who knows. I think the site will take a life of its own after sometime and that’s what’s cool about throwing up these personal sites. You can start with an idea of what direction you want to take your website in and then realize many posts in that you want to go in a different direction. Anyway, it definitely should be a learning experience all the way around.
I look forward in partaking on this little learning adventure and I hope that you and other enthusiasts find something useful here. As I mentioned before, if you do run across some information that doesn’t quite add up please let know and I’ll be more than happy to correct it. It’s all for enjoyment and appreciation.
